Invesco Mutual Fund has rolled out #NayaRiwaaz, a campaign

Ahead of Diwali, Invesco Mutual Fund has rolled out #NayaRiwaaz, a campaign that reimagines the tradition of gifting through the lens of long-term financial planning. Centred on the idea of passing on financial habits across generations, the campaign makes a case for starting early and staying invested to build towards future goals.

The film follows Aryan, a budding confectioner, who receives a blue lifafa (envelope) from his father every Diwali, before the customary box of mithai. What begins as a simple annual gesture gradually takes on greater significance as the protagonist grows up and pursues his aspirations of opening his own Mithai shop. Years later, he carries the ritual forward by gifting his daughter a similar envelope, extending a tradition that began with his father.

Through this generational narrative, the campaign draws a parallel between traditions inherited within families and financial habits that can be consciously cultivated and passed on.

Ameya Ingle, director and head - marketing, Invesco Mutual Fund, said: “Diwali is a festival of traditions, family and new beginnings. We wanted to show how one small gesture, repeated with love and intent, can become something much bigger over time. With #NayaRiwaaz, we celebrate the idea that investing can become a meaningful family tradition, much like the rituals and values that are passed down through generations. While gifts bring joy in the moment, the habits and values we pass on can stay with us for generations.”

He further added: “With this campaign, Invesco Mutual Fund aims to bring the conversation around investing closer to the way Indian families think about their dreams, their children’s futures and the traditions they choose to carry forward. The film builds on a simple but powerful thought: some traditions are inherited, while others begin with a new gesture.”

Developed in collaboration with Analogue Studio, the campaign seeks to bring investing into the context of everyday family conversations, highlighting the importance of starting early, staying invested and working towards long-term financial goals.

What we think about it: The idea of positioning investing as a habit passed down through generations works to drive the brand's Diwali messaging with the lifafa serving as a convenient narrative device. Also, noteworthy is the use of a girl child, as opposed to a son, to showcase generational transition. However, the film's storytelling lacks the depth needed to make the emotional connect compelling.
