Sprite has rolled out the latest edition of its ‘Joke in a Bottle’ campaign featuring comedian Kapil Sharma and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.
Launched last year, the campaign with 'Scan Karo, Joke Suno, Thand Rakho!' (scan, listen to jokes, chill) as the tagline, features jokes curated by renowned pan-India and regional comedians.
In the latest ad film, Sharma and Kashyap engage in a humorous banter about ads and filmmaking, taking a satirical dig on the entertainment industry, packed with punches.
The ad opens with Kashyap approaching Sharma with an ad script for the beverage brand, setting the stage for a hilarious back-and-forth. Kapil quips that he's surprised to see a filmmaker of Anurag’s calibre working on ads, to which the latter fires back, taking a dig on Sharma's act as a delivery boy in a recent movie. What follows is a chaotic, comical banter over the ad’s storyline, replete with crowded buses, and private jets.
Eventually, when Kashyap exclaims in frustration that he'll simply replace Sharma with another comedian, the latter delivers the final zinger: As the brand ambassador of Sprite, he's unlikely to be replaced, implying Kashyap is more likely to be let go!
What we think about it: The ad is on point with it's zingy energy and witty satire on the entertainment industry. The clever humour and chemistry between the two stars, as they pull well-timed punches at one another is bound to click with viewers.
