The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rolled out its promo for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in Pakistan between 19 February and 9 March (India's matches will be held in the UAE).
The promo for the film features former Pakistani all-rounder Wasim Akram. The film shows the 'white blazer' which is worn by the eventual champions of the tournament being stitched, with Akram asking 'what is the measure of a champion' with stand-out moments from previous Champions Trophy and other ICC events playing during his inspiring speech. The film ends with the blazer ready and Akram stating that 'when reputation, history and victory are on the line, champions put it all on the line'.
What we think about it: While there are doubts about how the tournament performs in terms of views (as compared to other ICC events), we think this promo helps build the hype around it. Getting Akram to feature in the film helps build the hype for Pakistan hosting the tournament too.
The film released across social media on 14 January. The Champions Trophy will be broadcast across the Star Sports network.
