Spotify's 'Diwali ki taiyaari fun banao, Spotify chalao' campaign.

Spotify has rolled out a campaign featuring the cast of the TVF show Gullak, under the tagline 'Diwali ki taiyaari fun banao, Spotify chalao' (Make Diwali prep fun, play Spotify).

The campaign comprises three ad films, ahead of Diwali, showcasing how chores can be made fun through music, from making laddoos, rangoli and tangled lights into moments the whole family shares.

The three one-minute ad films feature the Mishra family navigating familiar Diwali chores, from making laddoos and drawing rangoli to untangling decorative lights. Each film uses playful family banter before Spotify music turns the tasks into moments of fun. The films feature Taambdi Chaamdi as the soundtrack to laddoo-making, Chaiyya Chaiyya during rangoli-making and Badan Pe Sitare as the family tackles tangled lights.

What we think about it:  The films find a relatable festive insight in the everyday chaos of Diwali preparations, with Gullak’s familiar family dynamics and well-chosen, recognisable tracks lending the films warmth and humour. However, the execution stays within a fairly predictable festive advertising playbook, with Spotify’s role feeling more like a convenient soundtrack than a distinctive demonstration of how the platform can deepen the experience.

Shipra Srivastava, head - marketing, Spotify India, said, “Every Indian home has its own little rituals in the days leading up to Diwali. The fairy lights come out, rangoli takes shape, and someone is always sneaking a ladoo before the guests arrive. And somewhere in the middle of all this, there’s music playing in the background, bringing everyone together. That’s the feeling we wanted to capture with this campaign. Partnering with TVF and the Mishra family from Gullak felt like a natural fit because they reflect the warmth and quirks of a family we all recognise. Through these films, we wanted to celebrate those familiar moments when someone hits play on Spotify, everyone joins in, and an ordinary moment at home turns into a memory you carry with you.”

The campaign films are live on Spotify’s Instagram and YouTube channels.
