Media doyen Dr Bhaskar Das passed away earlier today (15 January) after a prolonged illness.
Dr Das was a prominent figure in the country's media landscape, contributing significantly to the success and growth of several leading media organisations. He left his mark at Bennett Coleman & Co. (BCCL), having joined the media organisation as a management trainee in 1980 and devoted over 30 years to the company. He ascended through the ranks, taking on the mantle of president and board member in 2005 until the end of his tenure in 2012, when he moved on.
Beyond BCCL, he held distinguished roles, including group CEO of Zee Media Corporation, executive president at DB Corp, and group president and chief strategy officer at Republic TV. Throughout his career, he became a key influencer in the media and entertainment sectors, renowned for his innovative approaches and leadership excellence.
A visionary leader, Dr Das additionally extended his expertise as an advisor to institutions like MICA and IdeateLabs.
