Mahindra has rolled out a two-film campaign featuring for its recently-launched EVs XEV 9e and BE 6.
Featuring actor Rahul Khanna, the two films feature the '80s soundtrack 'Boom Boom', originally sung by Nazia Hassan. For this campaign, singer Sunidhi Chauhan has recreated the song. The film for the XEV 9e, shows Khanna finishing a workout, getting ready and stepping into the XEV 9e. As the song starts playing in the background, shots of the car are revealed while Khanna drives for a shoot.
The film for the BE 6 (below), shows a lady humming the track before getting into the car and heading for a shoot with Khanna.
What we think about it: The film carries on with the trend of bringing nostalgia from yesteryears into advertising (read the January issue of Manifest for an in-depth feature on this trend). While the song and the picturisation (to an extent) work for us, the film does lack the creativity to match the cars.
The 45-second films were released on 13 December.
