Ahead of the Indian Super League's 2024-25 season kicking off on 13 September, a promo has been released for the tournament.
This year's tournament features a total of 13 teams. Following the recent retirement of India's leading goal-scorer Sunil Chhetri, the promo asks the question 'agla hero kaun' (who will be India's next football icon). It features India's last two footballing icons - Chhetri and Bhaichung Bhutia. It shows the duo in conversation about the next footballing hero and they come up with the idea of asking India for suggestions.
This leads to Ravi Shastri, Manu Bhaker, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, PV Sindhu, IM Vijayan, along with team owner Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham stating different names as their choice of India's next football icon.
The film has been conceptualised by Creativeland Asia.
What we think about it: After Sunil Chhetri's retirement, this is a pertinent question - who will be India's next sporting icon. Not only among the fans, brands will also need to place their bets on an Indian footballer, and so they too will be looking for that answer.
The ISL will be streamed on JioCinema (English, Hindi, Bengali and Malayalam) and telecast live on television on Sports 18.
