Netflix’s ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ teaser

Netflix has rolled out a teaser featuring the father-son duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan for its upcoming show titled, ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’. The new show is set to be directed by the junior Khan, and is deemed to be his take on Bollywood.

The film for the teaser has the duo playing themselves, as SRK tries to get the announcement for the new show right with Aryan in the director’s seat.

Senior Khan delivers the dialogue, ‘Picture toh saalon se baki hai, par show toh ab shuru hoga’ (The film may still be incomplete, however the show will begin now) in several different ways, however the director does not seem to be happy with his dialogue delivery. The latter makes him do multiple retakes with added emotion, actions, bass to the voice, faster, slower, and so on, much to the actor’s exasperation.

Finally, the actor loses his cool and snaps at the director, asking, “Does your dad rule this place?” In an amusing twist, the camera reveals the director’s face and it is indeed his son, Aryan Khan, who grins back at his dad and cheekily quips, “Yes!”.
The ad film has references to King Khan’s movies like Om Shanti Om and a perfectly timed dialogue from his recent hit Jawan: ‘Bete pe haath uthane se pehle…’.

What we think about it: This may not be the first time the father-son duo have come together for a creative project, however junior Khan directing his superstar father is definitely a first and makes for an interesting watch. The banter between the duo is entertaining, with the climactic dialogue from Jawan being the kicker. Also, the 'nepotism debate' notwithstanding, it goes without saying that no one better to endorse junior Khan's directorial debut than his star dad!

The teaser with the title reveal of the upcoming show was released on social media platforms on 3 February 2025.
