HDFC Bank has rolled out the fourth leg of its 'Stay Safe, Stay Vigilant' campaign. The latest edition titled 'Digital Arrest' highlights how fraudsters can pose as law enforcement officers and demand money under the threat of arrest.
Conceptualised by FCB Kinnect, the campaign which consists of an ad film depicts fraudsters posing as police officers who accuse a victim of ordering drugs, claim to have a digital arrest warrant and threaten to freeze his bank accounts. Pressured and anxious, the victim transfers money, only to later discover he’s been scammed. The campaign concludes with Vigil Aunty urging viewers to stay alert, reminding them that digital arrests are not authorised by the Indian government.
What do we think about it: Delivers a gripping portrayal of digital fraud through the lens of a 'digital arrest' scam which is becoming more widespread. It effectively combines real-life inspiration with a cautionary narrative, underscored by Vigil Aunty's memorable appeal to viewers. The film is a timely reminder to remain alert in the digital age.
The campaign was rolled out on 26 December on YouTube and Instagram.
