Cartoon Network issues clarification regarding its shutdown

The Cartoon Network has addressed rumours of its shutdown by issuing an official statement.

The statement which was shared with Manifest aims to put an end to the recent spate of news reports and speculation around the fate of the Warner Bros. Discovery kids entertainment channel.

The channel stated, "Cartoon Network would like to clarify that there is no truth to the speculation that the network or the studio are shutting down."

It further added, "With a number of recently announced greenlights, we remain committed to continually investing in innovative content that entertains and inspires our viewers across the globe."

Posts with #RIPCartoonNetwork have been trending on X (formerly Twitter) amid reports that the channel is shutting down since the past couple of days. The trend was triggered when a X account 'Animation Workers Ignited' shared a post with an animation, claiming that 'Cartoon Network is essentially dead'. The post further suggested that other animation studios are facing similar problems, pointing fingers at the alleged rampant layoffs within the industry.

The clip quickly went viral, garnering over a million views in a matter of hours, with social media users sharing their favourite cartoons using the hashtag #RIPCartoonNetwork.
