As Valentine’s Day is around the corner, we celebrate the love for the advertising, communications and marketing industries by exploring what makes them truly special.

To mark the occasion, for our February issue, Manifest chatted with industry leaders to understand the one thing they love most about their respective professions. We will be sharing their individual love letters to the industry in alphabetical order as we count down to Valentine's Day.

Here’s what Nisha Narayanan, COO and director, Red FM and Magic FM, had to say...

When you love what you do, you’ll find that your work becomes an extension of who you are. Passion turns work into purpose, and purpose into joy.

For me, that purpose is radio. It has always been my first love—a timeless companion that has been with me through every stage of life. It’s more than just a medium; it’s a voice that feels personal, even in a crowd. I still remember the handwritten postcards from listeners, each one carrying a request for a favourite song. Those moments were pure magic, a reminder of how deeply radio connects with the heart.

From its humble beginnings as a medium of information and entertainment in remote areas to its evolution as a community-centric platform, radio has always had a unique way of bringing people together. The magic lies in its ability to spark connections and foster conversations that matter. For over a century, it has seamlessly adapted to the digital age, embracing technology while remaining rooted in its essence.

What makes it truly irreplaceable is its loyalty. In times of crisis, when other mediums falter, radio becomes a beacon of information and hope. Its hyperlocal nature ensures it stays embedded in the heart of communities, offering a shared space that feels both personal and inclusive.

And isn’t it beautiful that World Radio Day on 13 February is followed by Valentine’s Day on 14 February? Both celebrate connection, love, and the joy of meaningful bonds. Here’s to many many more years of love, connection, and storytelling.
