Amazon Online top advertiser on digital in 2024: TAM report

Twitter.com led digital platforms with a 33% share, followed by YouTube with a 28% share, even as digital ad impressions rose 7% last year.

TAM AdEx Digital Advertising Trends for 2024

Digital advertising recorded a seven percent increase in ad impressions in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to the TAM AdEx digital advertising trends for the period.

In quarterly trends, the Q2 of 2024 observed a growth of 9% compared to Q1 of 2024. 

Ad impressions on the medium increased by almost 12.7 times in 2024 compared to 2020.

Twitter topped the digital platforms with a 33% share of ad impressions during the year, while YouTube secured 28% share. 

The report reveals significant developments in the digital advertising sector, showcasing continued growth in ad impressions, the sustained dominance of the services sector, and the rising influence of programmatic advertising. 

The top 10 Sectors together accounted for 84% share of ad impressions with Services sector leading the list. 

Personal Healthcare and Telecom Products were the new entrants compared to 2023 in top sectors and secured eighth and ninth positions respectively. The top two sectors added more than 55% share of ad impressions on digital medium.

Ecom-other services was the leading category with 12% share of ad impressions in 2024.

Cellular phones-smart phones was the only new entrants in top categories over 2023. Together, the top 10 categories added 45% share of ad impressions.

Amazon Online India maintained its leading position in the top advertisers list during 2024 over 2023, while Google descended to ninth position.

More than 155,000 advertisers were present on digital medium last year, while over 100,000 advertisers exclusively publicised during the period compared to 2023.

Amazon.in topped among the leading ten brands in 2024 with 3% of the ad impression share. 

Among the top 10 brands, four of them belonged to ecom-online shopping category, while four of them were new entrants. Among the top brands, two of them belonged to Amazon Online India. 

Coroot Inc was the top exclusive advertiser in 2024 on digital medium. 

Programmatic was the most popular method for promoting ads on digital platforms with 88% of total ad impressions. 

Ecom-Other Services among the categories saw highest increase in ad secondages with growth of 47% followed by Ecom-Financial Services with 39% growth during 2024 compared to 2023. 

Additionally, Corporate-Auto led among top 10 categories in terms of highest growth % (i.e. more than two times) in 2024 over 2023. 

Amongst the leading digital platforms and transaction methods for digital advertising, Twitter display topped with 33% of digital ad impressions during 2024, followed by In -app display on second position with 18% share. 

Single image ads grabbed highest impressions (55%) on digital, followed by Video Ads with 23% share, according to the report.
