Cred has rolled out an ad film, ‘Become a Green Flag’, featuring actor Mallika Sherawat as part of its ongoing campaign for Cred Foundation.
In the film, Sherawat uses a tennis court metaphor to explain the importance of maintaining a healthy credit mix. Dressed in a ballgown and seated in a bathtub with a glass of champagne on a tennis court, she catches the eye of one of the players and tells him to “keep your eyes on the game”. She then turns to the camera, urging viewers to do the same with their finances. The film goes on to highlight how Cred can help users diversify their credit portfolios and manage their finances, credit cards and loans in one place. It positions a diverse and well-managed credit history as a way for borrowers to become a ‘green flag’ for lenders.
What we think about it: The tennis-court setting and Sherawat’s glamorous presence make credit education entertaining, while the ‘green flag’ analogy makes the message relatable. However, viewers may be more tuned in to the celebrity faces fronting this ongoing campaign than to the offerings Cred is trying to promote, risking a loss of focus on the brand’s core proposition.
The brand aims to roll out a set of educational ads that use humour, wit and celebrity appeal to explain credit concepts in under 60 seconds. The films roll out on Instagram, YouTube and JioHotstar every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 18 October. The first film featured actor and media personality Rakhi Sawant.
The film with Sherawat was released on 13 October.
