Swiggy Instamart's InstaTohfa campaign

Swiggy Instamart has rolled out a campaign, ‘InstaTohfa’ featuring actor Tusshaar Kapoor that attempts to bring back the charm of retro Bollywood with a modern twist.

The campaign has son Kapoor stepping into his father Jeetendra’s trademark white dancing shoes, in a quirky reboot of the veteran actor’s 1980’s Bollywood number ‘Tohfa Tohfa’.

With this latest campaign, Swiggy Instamart aims to redefine love ahead of Valentine’s Day, by driving in the message that the quick commerce platform will ensure thoughtful gifts are delivered within minutes - to not just one’s significant other - but even to family, friends, and pets.

The ad film showcases Kapoor donning his dad’s signature white-on-white attire accompanied by white shoes to dance to the catchy retro number that was originally filmed on senior Kapoor in the 1980s. Playing on the word ‘tohfa’ meaning ‘gift’, the ad depicts everyone from grandparents to children swaying to the song. The film culminates with the Swiggy delivery personnel delivering ‘tohfas’ to all and sundry.

What we think about it: The campaign highlights the Q-comm platform's insta delivery of gifts with the apt Bollywood retro number that goes ‘tohfa, tohfa’. The casting coup is, of course, getting son Kapoor to step into dad Jeetendra’s dancing shoes for the film, and having him emulate the 1980’s style dance steps in a parody of the original number.

Mayur Hola, VP, marketing, Swiggy, said, "Valentine’s Day is for everyone you love, not just your significant other. Whether it’s a rose for your grandma, chocolates for a friend, or a toy for your pet, Swiggy Instamart helps you celebrate every moment of love. And with InstaTohfa, you can do it in just 10 minutes!"
