Malaysia Airlines and Mumbai Indians' 'Cricket at 30,000 feet' campaign

Malaysia Airlines has rolled out a campaign, ‘Cricket at 30,000 Feet’, in collaboration with the Mumbai Indians.

Conceptualised by Talented, the campaign features cricketers Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Trent Boult. The film opens with a child telling their mom that they want to play cricket while they are on a flight. Just as the mother is pacifying the child that it’s not possible to play a sport at 30,000 feet, the air hostess makes an announcement asking if there are any cricketers on board, and that’s when Pandya, Sharma, and Boult show up. Joined by them, the fan then experiences the spirit of the game in an unexpected setting, capturing the energy of cricket fandom and the joy of travel.

What we think about it: The campaign combines India's love for cricket and travel. By placing the game inside an aircraft cabin, Malaysia Airlines turned a routine flying experience into a fantasy fulfilment moment.

Bryan Foong, chief executive officer - airline business, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, "India is one of our most important growth markets, and cricket is a powerful passion point that connects millions of people across the country and beyond. Through our partnership with the Mumbai Indians, we have a unique platform to engage fans in a way that feels natural, relevant and culturally meaningful. This campaign allows us to bring Malaysian Hospitality into that conversation while strengthening brand affinity, supporting travel demand, and driving deeper commercial relevance in a key market for the airline."

A Mumbai Indians spokesperson said, “This film captures something that is true to the Mumbai Indians, the love for this team travels far beyond boundaries and resonates with fans across the world. To see that come alive aboard a Malaysia Airlines flight, with our players at the heart of it, makes for a truly special moment. It reflects a partnership that continues to find fresh and creative ways to bring us closer to our fans."
