mCaffeine's 'By the Blues' campaign.

mCaffeine has rolled out a campaign, 'By the Blues', featuring actor and content creator Dharna Durga, actor Gopi Bhalla and the brand's founder Tarun Sharma to highlight its new body lotion offerings through a made-up FIR episode.

The campaign comprises an ad film.

The film brings together F.I.R’s Bhalla and Durga, who question Sharma in an interrogation room in a playful take on skincare communication, centred around mCaffeine’s new body lotion and its distinctly Goa-like aquatic woody fragrance. Bhalla’s trademark curiosity sets up the central mystery: how does a body lotion smell this much like Goa? What follows is a straight-faced yet humorous interrogation of Sharma about the product, with Durga adding her comic timing and personality, while the lotion’s 3-in-1 benefits emerge naturally through the banter.

Rather than following the conventional beauty-film format of clinical claims and serious skincare conversations, the film uses humour, nostalgia and the familiar F.I.R universe to make the product experience the centre of the story.

What we think about it: Here is why the film is effective: it turns a functional skincare proposition into an entertaining premise, using a familiar TV show, F.I.R.'s universe and its characters to make the product’s Goa-inspired fragrance memorable. From a marketing standpoint, the interrogation format gives mCaffeine a distinctive creative hook while allowing the lotion’s benefits to land organically rather than feeling like a list of product claims.

Sharma said, “Getting Gopi and Dharna for an mCaffeine film is a full-circle moment for us. With ‘By The Blues’, we wanted to have fun with the way skincare is usually communicated. The lotion has a really interesting fragrance experience, so instead of simply talking about it, we built a story around that feeling. Gopi and Dharna brought exactly the energy we were looking for, and the result is something that feels very mCaffeine, unexpected, entertaining and rooted in the product.”

The campaign has rolled out across the brand's digital and social platforms.
