The name change takes the cricket website back to the identity it held when it was founded in 1993.

JioStar has announced that ESPNcricinfo will be rebranded as Cricinfo, marking a return to the platform's original identity.

The rebranding is part of the operational transition agreed upon following the merger between Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company in India in November 2024.

The name change takes the cricket website back to the identity it held when it was founded in 1993.

According to the company, the platform will continue to serve as a trusted destination for cricket fans worldwide and will play a distinct role within JioStar's cricket offering.

As part of the transition, Cricinfo will now operate through cricinfo.com and its mobile applications under the 'Cricinfo' name on both the App Store and Google Play.

Users visiting espncricinfo.com or accessing the platform through existing bookmarks and links will continue to be redirected to the site without disruption.

With more than three decades of editorial heritage and one of the sport's most extensive cricket databases, Cricinfo aims to continue to serve as a comprehensive record of the game.

Sambit Bal, editor-in-chief, Cricinfo, “We will continue building Cricinfo as a definitive destination for the most passionate cricket fans globally, and it will remain true to its founding principles of serving cricket fans everywhere. The next phase of evolution will include AI-powered innovations to enhance our storytelling, which, as ever, will stay rooted in originality."
