JioStar, the recently formed JV between Viacom18 and Star India, has announced that its two OTT apps, JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar have been merged.
The combined app will be called JioHotstar. The brand's logo and identity was developed by venturethree.
The app will be available free of cost and also subscription plans start at INR 149 per month. According to a statement from JioStar, existing JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will be able to seamlessly transition and set up their JioHotstar subscriptions.

JioHotstar's content includes Hollywood, with Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount – all on the same platform. In sports, its portfolio consists of ICC events, IPL, and WPL, while also spotlighting grassroots cricket with the Indian Street Premier League. It also has football rights to the English Premier League and ISL, and other tournaments like the Pro Kabaddi League and Wimbledon.
JioHotstar has also introduced ‘Sparks’, a flagship initiative spotlighting India’s biggest digital creator through innovative and engaging formats.

Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company's merger was completed in November 2024.
