In our January issue, Abraham Thomas, CEO, Reliance Broadcast Network, unveiled Big FM’s transformative journey toward becoming a solutions-driven audio entertainment network.

He underscored the game-changing role of AI in enhancing sound quality, analytics, and consumer engagement while addressing industry challenges such as regulatory hurdles and the push for digital radio growth.

From leveraging AI to elevate sound quality and analytics to redefining advertiser relationships with integrated offerings, Thomas outlines a future where radio thrives alongside emerging audio formats.

He stated, “AI is not a threat to radio; it’s an enhancement. We’re using it to improve sound quality, develop ads for clients, and create innovative consumer experiences, like our gamified shopping initiatives in Super Duper Dhamaka.

Thomas also underlined the network’s evolution into a comprehensive solutions company. “Our focus has shifted to creating intellectual properties (IPs) and offering integrated solutions beyond traditional radio. This shift has allowed us to address advertisers’ marketing challenges effectively and unlock new opportunities", he stated.

Discussing the industry’s broader challenges, Thomas highlighted the pressing need for modernised regulations.

“We’re urging the government to revisit the license fee structure. A flat 4% revenue share would be sustainable, but tying fees to high past bids creates undue strain on certain markets", he shared.
