First half of 2024 sees 3% drop in ad volumes on television: TAM

Hindustan Unilever continued to top the advertiser charts.

Advertising volumes on television dipped in the first half of 2024 by 3% according to a TAM report. This despite the Indian state elections, which was supposed to attract more advertising interest.

Hindustan Unilever continued to be the top advertiser on television during this period. Reckitt, Godrej Consumer Products, Procter & Gamble held on to their second, third and fourth spots respectively. ITC moved up the ladder from number seven to number five.

In terms of top brands, it was Reckitt's Harpic that topped the list, followed by Dettol. Five of the top ten brands on the list were those from Reckitt.

In terms of categories, GEC dominated the list with 30% of the advertisers picking the category to showcase their brand message. News was second. The list excludes promos and social ads.
