Swiggy Dineout has rolled out a campaign featuring actor Neena Gupta that showcases its offerings for the Great Indian Restaurant Festival (GIRF). The platform has revived its food festival this year, bringing deals such as flat 50% off at top restaurants across major cities.
The ad film opens in a fancy restaurant where a family comprising a couple and their grown up daughter have come to have dinner. When the waiter comes to take their order, the father and daughter stick to their regular ‘traditional’ fares on the menu, such as ‘dal’, 'butter paneer’ and ‘lachha paratha’. However, Gupta, with much aplomb, cancels each of those ‘usual’ items off the order, replacing them instead with an extravagant dish such as 'Dalgona coffee', 'pan seared scallops', and even rattling off an exotic sounding French dish name - much to the astonishment of her family. It is later revealed that the deals and restaurant offers on Swiggy Dineout are behind her new-found cool confidence.
What we think of it: The campaign delivers the GIRF messaging on the platform by swapping traditional menu items with names of 'exotic' dishes, accompanied by a dose of exaggerated drama and humour.
