Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has rolled out a campaign, aimed at helping non-native speakers learn Kannada in the most delightful way possible.
Conceptualised by Talented, the campaign comprises an ad film. The film brings together Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s diverse, multilingual fanbase by blending the love for language, cricket, and sweets to forge a deeper bond with the city. Featuring RCB cricketers like Virat Kohli, Ellyse Perry, Smriti Mandhana, and Krunal Pandya, the film follows a woman’s arrival in Bengaluru, spotlighting the city’s inclusive spirit. It then introduces RCB’s innovative gesture - inviting fans to savour the sweetness of Kannada through specially crafted jalebis shaped in the local script, turning a cultural celebration into a heartfelt experience.
What we think about it: A very creative idea that stood out for sure. The initiative is as sweet as it is smart - blending thoughtful design, inclusivity, and cricket fandom in a refreshingly local way. By inviting fans to literally taste the language and learn Kannada with a side of sugar, RCB delivers a pitch-perfect example of how sport can spark cultural pride and deepen community bonds - one delicious jalebi at a time!
Rajesh Menon, COO, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, said, “What makes RCB truly special is the unwavering support of our fans - no matter where they come from or what language they speak. This campaign is our tribute to Bengaluru, a city that has embraced people from across the country with open arms. By creating jalebis inspired by the elegance of the Kannada script, we’re inviting everyone to savour the rich culture of our home city - quite literally. It’s a bold and heartfelt gesture to surprise our fans and deepen their connection with the team.”
This limited-edition Kannada jalebis will be available exclusively at the RCB Bar and Café in Bengaluru from 8 to 11 April. Fans can scan the jalebi pack to unlock a series of beginner-friendly Kannada lessons on RCB’s YouTube channel, making this the tastiest language class in town. RCB is also sponsoring 1000 free Kannada learning sessions that fans can take or gift their non-native Bengalurean friends - a sweet gesture to help the city’s diverse fan base connect more deeply with its cultural roots.
