Amidst the barrage of festive communication coming our way, Manifest asked the advertising, marketing and media community to share their most-liked piece of work from all-time.
This article was originally published in our November issue (which can be bought here). We’re featuring the advertising industry's favourite works, sharing two selections at a time in alphabetical order.
Here are the top picks from Nihilent and Hypercollective's KV Sridhar and Megha Tata.

The best-ever was Asian Paints’ Pongal campaigns from the late 90s. The production and casting was perfect. Asian Paints was one of the first few brands that recognised South India as a different country from the rest of India. Pongal in the South is a very special occasion especially. It was beautifully done and was the first time Pongal was celebrated and acknowledged. It was advertising done specifically for the region in the language. We have several dialects and culture in the country and that needs to be celebrated.
Another brand that caught my attention was Petronas for Diwali in Malaysia. They celebrate all four cultures there equally and we should be celebrating the same in India. Our states are bigger than most countries so marketers need to treat them accordingly and have cultural campaigns for each state.
Megha Tata, strategic advisor, independent advisor
Sabhyata’s ‘Redefining Celebrations’ beautifully captures the celebration of #Sisterhood! It’s women who can and should be the support for each other. It’s already tough for women to make their presence felt in a male dominated work world so when the few women in leadership roles can be the change they want to see, it makes for a narrative that needs to be celebrated.
