Air India has rolled out a video that celebrates the beauty, diversity, and timeless charm of India.
The one-minute film, released on Instagram, invites travellers to explore the country’s extraordinary landscapes and experiences with the global carrier.
The film captures the sky from a ground-level perspective, following the silhouette of an Air India aircraft as it flies over iconic monuments, architectural landmarks, and diverse terrains across the country, while highlighting India's vast geographical and cultural diversity.
Earlier last week, Air India announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of India’s ministry of tourism, to jointly promote India as a preferred global tourism destination, while strengthening the country's position as a key aviation and transit hub.
The Instagram video builds on this initiative, with the message, "Nothing quite prepares you for the sheer beauty, grace, and wonder of this land. Your window seat to the extraordinary awaits.”
The MoU establishes a framework for coordinated initiatives across tourism marketing, destination storytelling, trade engagement, transit tourism, and visitor experience enhancement. By leveraging Air India's expanding global network and the MoT's flagship Incredible India initiative, the collaboration aims to boost inbound tourism, strengthen India's global visibility, and encourage more international travellers to discover the country's diverse cultural, heritage, natural, and experiential offerings.
What we think about it: The film adopts an imaginative visual perspective, looking up from the ground to the sky, that showcases the airline's plane gliding above India's iconic monuments and landscapes within a single frame. The execution avoids the familiar montage of postcard visuals while keeping the aircraft at the heart of the narrative. However, while the imagery evokes the grandeur of the destination, it falls short of creating a stronger emotional connect with the brand itself that would have made the film memorable beyond its striking visuals.
Nipun Aggarwal, chief commercial officer, Air India, said: "As the airline that proudly carries India in its name, Air India has a unique responsibility to showcase the country to the world and serve as an ambassador for the 'new India' that is confident, vibrant, warm, and welcoming. As Air India expands its global network that already spans five continents and welcomes more visitors to India, this partnership with the Ministry of Tourism will help us to meaningfully put the spotlight on a nation that truly is uniquely remarkable."
P. Balaji, group head – governance, risk, compliance & corporate affairs, Air India, said: "This MoU reflects months of close collaboration between Air India and the Ministry of Tourism and a shared belief that aviation and tourism can be powerful partners in advancing India's global profile. The framework creates a meaningful platform that combines the Government's nation-branding strengths with Air India's growing global footprint. We are excited to work with the Ministry of Tourism to create new pathways for international travellers to discover the richness, diversity, and dynamism of India."
