After Ghatkopar incident, one more hoarding collapses in the outskirts of Mumbai

While there were no casualties reported, two people have been injured and three vehicles have been damaged, according to the Thane Police.

Outdoor hoardings and its safety has emerged under the scanner once again, as one more advertising hoarding collapsed, this time in Kalyan (outskirts of Mumbai). This follows the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse in May 2024, which claimed 17 lives and caused many injuries. 

The latest incident of hoarding collapse occurred in the Sahjanand Chowk area in Thane at 10:18 am on 2 August. According to a statement from the Thane Police, no casualties were reported, but three vehicles were damaged. Two people were injured in the mishap, as per media reports.

While it's unclear which agency group owned the advertising hoarding space, the advertisement belonged to real estate group, Paradise Group. The video being circulated on social media shows how the hoarding collapsed a few seconds after being struck by a thunderbolt.
