Sportz Village's 'Creating Champions In Life' campaign.

Sportz Village has rolled out a campaign 'Creating Champions In Life', to underscore that the school syllabus should not be restricted to academics but should also include sports.

Conceptualised by Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, the campaign which consists of a film highlights the rigorous journey to victory, where every day is a new exam, every failure a lesson, and every challenge an opportunity. The film draws parallels between the obstacles faced in sports and those encountered in life, emphasising that the right training, curriculum, and preparation are crucial in molding champions—not just in sports, but in all aspects of life. It conveys two key messages: first, that sports are integral to a child's learning and development, instilling life skills that contribute to becoming a champion in life. Second, it addresses the broader goal of expanding India’s talent pool for the 2036 Olympics.

What we think about it: We have all sensed the need for our educational system to encompass more than just traditional academics, such as art and sports. This film resonates deeply by highlighting how training and preparation in sports are crucial for developing life skills that extend beyond the field. Its compelling narrative effectively advocates for integrating sports into the educational syllabus while also aiming to prepare India's youth for future Olympic success, making it a truly impactful campaign.

Saumil Majumdar, CEO and managing director, Sportz Village, said, “Sportz Village celebrated its 21st birthday on 31st August. This was an important milestone in our mission of getting 100 million kids to play and creating champions in life. In the last 21 years, our programs have touched the lives of over 60 lakh children and youth from more than 18000 private and public schools across 22 states in India. We have partnered with over 100 brands and corporates, sports academies, federations and leagues as well as Governments, who believe in the power of sport in building healthier, happier, and more connected communities. On our 21st birthday, happy to share our biggest campaign till date - Creating Champions In Life.”

Raghu Bhat, co-founder, Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, said, “We wanted to show a schools’ role in creating a champion, in an interesting manner. Hence the creative idea of ‘Champion ka Syllabus’  (a champion's syllabus) was developed. The visuals combined with the voiceover, which is is laden with insights and life observations, makes it highly watchable.”

Kapil Tammal, national creative director, Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, added, “With this campaign, we aim to encourage children in schools to go beyond viewing sports as just a hobby. For India to shine on the global stage, including the Olympics, this journey must start in our schools. While academics are prioritised, sports often take a back seat. When pursued with the right guidance and support, sports can unlock a child's full potential, transforming their future in remarkable ways.”
