Microsoft outage causes flights being grounded in India

Brokerage firms also facing issues due to the Microsoft 'Blue Screen of Death'.

Microsoft Windows users are facing 'Blue Screen of Death' errors leading to major airlines in India being grounded. This included Indigo, Spicejet and Akasa Air among others, having to manually print boarding passes.

According to media reports, the aviation ministry has asked Indian airlines to inform passengers via texts regarding delays and cancellation of flights amid the outage.

A Ministry of Civil Aviation spokeperson, said, “Have instructed airlines to inform passengers via SMS with immediate flights on the check in delays and cancellation. Airline crew managing the situation on-ground. Airport authorities are working on an on-ground management plan due to the influx of passengers.” 

The outage also causes brokerage firms 5paise, Angel One, Motilal Oswal and Nuvama also facing outages.

Globally, news channels like Sky News were also down.
