The Department of Justice (DOJ) USA is planning to ask a judge to force Alphabet (owner of Google) to sell Chrome. According to a report in Bloomberg, this is part of The Department of Justice's antitrust probe into Alphabet.
Earlier this year, judge Amit Mehta of the District of Columbia, ruled Google had an illegal monopoly in the search engine market, to make the ruling.
Bloomberg further reported that the DOJ also plans to ask Mehta to impose data licensing requirements on Alphabet and to address its plans for artificial intelligence and the Android operating system.
Chrome is the most-used browser in the world, with a 66.65% market share as of October 2024.
